Mark Christopher Diacetis, age 43, of Norwich, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday at W.W. Backus Hospital.
Mark was born in Albany, NY on April 12, 1967 the son of Theodore J. and Mary Jane (Masenas) Diacetis. After receiving his education, he served in the U.S. Army during Operation Desert Storm.
Recently, he was employed as a service technician for AAA and previously been employed as an EMT with American Ambulance.
Mark was actively involved with the Norwich Little League where he served as coach, board member, and field manager. He was also a member of the VFW, Army National Guard, and was a former member of the Noank Fire Dept. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Tracy J. (Brooks) Diacetis; a son, Zachary; two stepdaughters, Nicole Demarinis of Groton and Brittany Demarinis of Mystic; a step-grandaughter, Natalee Warner; his siblings, Alicia (Brian) Searles of Ravena, NY and James (Dorothy Young) Diacetis of Latham, NY; his mother and father-in-law, Marinell and Joseph “Bud” Field of Noank, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mark’s family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Sunday from 2-5pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Cathedral, Norwich on Monday at 10am. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial with presentation of military honors will be in the Middletown, CT Veterans Cemetery.
His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Norwich Little League, PO Box 503, Norwich, CT 06360 or Work Vessels for Veterans, 145 Pearl Street, Noank Ct 06340; both organizations Mark cared deeply for.
