Mr. Kenneth Douglas Paulk, age 69, died Sunday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. The Louisiana native lived in Ocilla, Georgia and moved to Statesboro in 1975. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Following his discharge from the Air Force, Mr. Paulk began his career with Interstate Life, later becoming Gulf Life and then American General, retiring as District Manager in 2000 following over 30 years of service. Mr. Paulk was a member of the Tuesday Night Supper Club and the St. Catherine’s Island Sports Fishing Club. He was an active member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved his country, fishing, nature and the outdoors.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Bette Davis Paulk of Statesboro; two daughters and sons in law, Faye Beth and David Ball of Statesboro and Allison and Keith Corbin of Statesboro; a son and daughter in law, Ken and Angela Paulk of Statesboro; seven grandchildren, Rachel Corbin, Lauren Whitfield, David Ball II, Kenneth Candler Ball, Kenneth Daniel Paulk, Andrew Davis Paulk and Christopher Davis Paulk all of Statesboro; a brother and sister in law, Don and Ann Paulk of Fitzgerald; a sister in law and brother in law William and Julia Davis of Abbeville, GA; two nephews and their spouses, Jason and Keisha Davis and Chad and Hailey Davis and a great nephew, Rhett Davis.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00am in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Dr. H. William Perry officiating, assisted by Dr. John Waters.
Interment will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Donald Allen, Ken Wilkes, Arthur Howard, Marty Clay, Buddy Powell, Gene Neville and F.M. Jones.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Donnie Pope, Jeff Pope, Mike Williams, Roger Scoffield, Will Self, Bill Thompson, Danny Hatchell, Kermit Moody, members of the Tuesday Night Supper Club and members of the St. Catherine’s Island Fishing Club.
