Edythe M. Chase, 101

Dateline: Norton, MA

Edythe M. (Walker) Chase, 101, of Norton passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 20, 2010 at the Life Care Center in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Leon D. Chase and the late Walter E. Metters.
Born in Attleboro, MA on October 6, 1908 she was a dear daughter of the late Ernest T. and Gerrtie (Sissons) Walker,
Edythe grew up in Attleboro, was educated in Attleboro public schools and was a graduate of Attleboro High School. She was a dedicated homemaker to her family and after starting her family had worked for several years at Texas Instruments in Attleboro prior to retiring.
A member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Attleboro, her life was centered around her adoring family. She was an avid seamstress who enjoyed sewing, making clothes, had a special passion for creating beautiful dolls and will always be remembered for her exceptional baking skills. Edythe had made her home in Norton for the past 77 years.
She is survived by her loving and devoted children Nancy C. Parsons and her husband Kenneth of Mansfield and Leon D. Chase and his wife Eleanor of Norton. She was the sister of the late Gertrude Shurtleff, Clifford Walker and Leon Walker and is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Kenneth Parsons and his wife Elizabeth of New Jersey, Susan Farinella and her husband Michael of Belmont and Elizabeth Thomas and her husband Steven of North Attleboro, her great grandchildren Sarah Thomas, Tyler Thomas and Gregory Thomas all of North Attleboro, Leah Farinella and Sophia Farinella both of Belmont and Olivia Parsons of New Jersey, also surviving are her nieces Margaret Wolfenton of Rhode Island and Shirley Bosquin of Raynham.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday April 23rd at 11:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will follow in Oak Knoll Cemetery, Rehoboth.
Visitation will be held prior to services on Friday morning beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Edythe’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Activities Fund at the Life Care Center of Attleboro 969 Park St. Attleboro, MA 02703.
