Robert J. "Bob" Carbone, a 30 year resident of Wakefield, died on Monday, April 19, 2010, at his home in Wakefield following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was 71 years old.
Bob was born in Cambridge on December 24, 1938 to the late James T. and Mary E. (Belcher) Carbone. He grew up in Cambridge where he attended Cambridge Public Schools, graduated from Ridge Technical High School in Cambridge and attended Northeastern University for one year. Bob enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on April 19, 1957 and served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged on October 18, 1961 with the rank of Corporal. Bob worked many years as an engineer at Polaroid Corporation, Kodac and Brooks Automation. He retired in 2001. Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife Pat, making many trips to St. Martin. He also enjoyed photography and computers.
Bob is the beloved and loving husband of 12 years to Patricia Kilduff-Carbone. He is the devoted father of Kristine Woods and her husband David of Wakefield, Lawrence Kilduff, III, of China and the late Daniel J. Carbone. He is the loving Gramps to 7 grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of James Carbone of Tennessee, Kenneth Carbone of Methuen, Donald Carbone of Peabody, Ann Guerra of California, Mary Hogan of Florida, Frances Medieros of Waltham, Janice Lewicki of Somerville, Rita Auger of Dracut and the late Ronald, Richard and John Carbone. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bob's Funeral Service on Friday, April 23, 2010, at 10 a.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Wakefield/Melrose line. Burial will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. Visiting hours for Bob will be on Thursday, April 22, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m.
