Mr. John P. Steele, beloved husband of Mary Louise (Kelly) and a 58 years resident of Medford, died at the Epoch Nursing Center in Harwich on Thursday, April 15, 2010. He was 89 years old.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, on November 18, 1920, he was the beloved son of the late Frank J. and Rose (McAleer) Steele. Mr. Steele was employed by the Charlestown Navy Yard as a Master Electrician for many years. He was also a WWII Air Force veteran. In his spare time, John was an avid pilot, owning and operating his own small airplane.
Besides his beloved wife, Mary, he will be missed by loving children; John P. Steele of Peabody, Roger F. and his wife Marie Steele of Dennisport, Paul A. and his wife Jeanne Steele of Yarmouth, Donna M. Steele of Dennisport and Allan Steele of Derry, N.H. cherished grandchildren; Kristin, Joseph, TJ and Jillian Steele, devoted great-grandchildren; Addy and Liam Steele. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and was also the father of the late Edward F. Steele.
His funeral was from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Monday, April 19, 2010, at 8 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 514 High Street, Medford at 9 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held on Sunday, April 18, 2010, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
