TEWKSBURY - Albert A. Brown, age 83, an active member of the Portugese community in the greater Boston area, died Sunday morning, April 18, at the Blairehouse of Tewksbury, following a two year period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Maria doCeu (DaSilva) Brown, with whom he had celebrated a 49th wedding anniversary this past January 29.
He was born in Somerville, September 8, 1926, a son of the late Manuel and Maria (Tome) Brown. He lived the greater part of his life in Somerville before moving to Tewksbury 21 years ago. As a resident of Somerville, he was a communicant of St. Benedict's Church, and was a former member of the Board of Directors for the Cambridge Portugese Credit Union. He was a retired warehouse foreman for the Sarah Lee company. Since moving to Tewksbury, he was a communicant of St. William's Church.
Mr. Brown served in the Army, during WWII, stationed in the Philippines and later the occupation forces in Japan.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Lucilina Brown of Tewksbury, with whom he resided; two grandsons, Phillip Brown and Eric Brown both of Tewksbury; a sister, Lorraine Grassia of Tewksbury; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass was held Thursday, April 22, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial with Army Honors followed at St. Mary's Cemetery, No. Tewksbury.
