MARY "MARIE" (DOLAN) MURPHY, 89, of Cohasset and formerly a Hingham resident for over 50 years, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 17th. She was born in Boston on June 24th, 1920, the daughter of Bessie and John Dolan.
'Marie" was predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years, James G. "Jerry" Murphy, a World War II veteran; her devoted son, James G. Murphy, Jr.; and her sisters, Margaret Dolan and Claire Bacon; and her brother, John Dolan.
She is survived by four loving children; Ellen and her husband James Carpenter of Hanover, John and his wife Kathleen of Cotuit, Richard and his wife Ruth of Hingham and Maryann of Cohasset; a loving daughter-in-law, Jane Murphy of Gorham, ME; seven cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Carpenter of Boston, Melissa Haire and her husband Casey of New York City, Timothy Carpenter and his wife Rose of Boston, Elizabeth Rigert and her husband Brian of New York City, Christopher Murphy of New York City, Carolyn Murphy of South Boston and Lauren Murphy of Hingham; four great grandchildren; her sister, Priscilla Kisiel and her husband, Dr. J. Robert of South Hadley, MA; her cousin, Rev. John P. Spencer, S.J., and many other cousins, nephews and nieces.
During her life, "Marie" held dear to her heart her faith, family and friends. Her surviving family and friends will forever remember her strength, character, humor and love of life.
Funeral Tuesday, April 20th at 9 AM from the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Paul's Church, 147 North St., Hingham Square at 10 AM.

Interment in St. Paul's Cemetery, Hingham.
