Obituary

George M. Manfra, a life–long Medford resident died Friday night at home in the company of his loving family. He was 81.

Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late George and the late Mary (Musmecci) Manfra. A baseball player at Medford High School, George served in the Navy during the Korean War. He had a productive 30-year career as a civil engineer with the Massachusetts Highway Department. His love for baseball carried throughout his life and he shared that with his family and friends. He was an enthusiastic supporter of his son Michael’s participation in the Special Olympics and along with his wife, Mary, was a great advocate for Michael’s education. George enjoyed an especially close relationship with is many cousins who were like brothers and sisters to him and that quality of love of family was central to his life.

The beloved husband of the late Mary E. (Baumann) Manfra who died in 2003, he was a loving father to Michael Manfra of Burlington, Marilynn Manfra of Cranston, RI, Carol Ryan and her husband James of Norwood. He was a dear father-in law to the late Everett Willis and was a devoted grandfather to Paul Manfra-Willis.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday, April 21st at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
