BEVERLY- Mary (Stathes) Georgilakis, 78, wife of Stanley Georgilakis, of Beverly, formerly of Salem, passed away Saturday evening, January 19, 2002, at her home following an illness of several months.
Born in San Francisco, California in 1923, she was the daughter of the late George and Chrisapho (Dalkas) Georgilakis who immigrated from Diavolitsi, Messini, Greece.
Prior to her retirement in 1980, she was employed at Maynard Plastics for many years. She previously worked for Sylvania and the former CBS Hytron.
A resident of Salem and Beverly for most of her adult life, she was a member of the St Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody. Mrs Georgilakis enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles and traveling.
Besides her husband, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen M. And Donald M. Brings Jr. of Beverly and with whom Mary and Stanley resided, Christine F. And Kenneth L. Faulkner of Amesbury, six grandchildren, Nickolas Brings, Andrew Brings, Katina Brings and Stefan Brings all of Beverly, Tara Agostino and Shaun Faulkner both of Amesbury, one brother, George Stathes of Freemont, CA, two sisters, Ephigenia Leslie of Petaluma, CA, Dimitra S. Hennessey of Sebastopol, CA and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Alexander Stathes, and two sisters, Theoni Stathes and Thalia Picard.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a service at 10 am at the St Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours are in the funeral home on Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.
