Obituary

Worcester - Arthur A. St. Germaine, of Worcester, passed away at the home of his daughter and son-in-law on Wednesday, April 14 at the age of 91.

Born in Worcester in 1919, he was the son of Arthur A. St. Germain and Orisia M. (Desilet) St. Germain.

His wife, Mary F. (Laverty) St. Germaine passed away in 1994. Arthur is survived by his ten children Edward St. Germaine, Joseph St. Germaine, Richard St. Germaine, Mary (St. Germaine) Navickas, Paul St. Germaine of Sturbridge, Robert St. Germaine, Joan (St. Germain) Murphy, Jean St. Germaine, Theresa (St. Germaine) Mobley and Daniel St. Germaine.

He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Arthur joined the US Army in 1941 and was stationed in the South Pacific during World War II, where he was a scout, rifleman and mortar crewman in the AmeriCal division. He saw action in Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Fiji and the Philippine Islands. For his service to our country, he was awarded the bronze star, the combat infantry badge, the Presidential unit citation and the Phillippine liberation medal.

Arthur spent his working career in Worcester and retired from Wyman Gordon Company in 1984 from the die cast department.

Among his multitude of talents, his favorite pastime was enjoying classical music. An accomplished musician and composer himself, he created several web pages which contained his original compositions. He also wrote and published several books, including his army adventures, as well as fictional novels and short stories. He made several wood carvings of characters over the years and created many oil paintings of various subjects.

The funeral will be held on Monday, April 19 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass at 10 AM in Saint Stephen’s Church 357 Grafton St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are on Sunday, April 18 from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
