Eleanor F. Rossi, of Woburn formerly of East Falmouth and Medford, passed away peacefully April 13th at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester. The beloved wife of the late Deputy Chief George A. Rossi of the Medford Fire Dept., she was 96 years of age. Born in Malden she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Burke) Shiner
Mrs. Rossi was a graduate of Lesley College where she earned and received her teaching certificate. Following graduation she began working as teacher with the Medford Public Schools. Mostly devoted to her family she enjoyed arts and crafts. She loved to do crochet work and once won a first place Blue Ribbon at the Barnstable County Fair for one of her beautiful afghans. Mrs. Rossi also loved cooking and especially baking for her family and friends.
In addition to her late husband, Mrs. Rossi is predeceased by her son, the late George Rossi Jr. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Hazel Kimball, Lillian Toomey, Alfred, Ray, Bernard, and Harold Shiner. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Beverly Elliott of Woburn. She is further survived by her grandchildren Jerry Elliott of Wilmington, Jeffrey Elliott of Woburn and Kara Collins of Winchester. She is further survived by three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Friday, April 16th, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held today, Thursday, April 15th, from 5 thru 8. Service will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
