Obituary

Billy Barnes, 67, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, April 12, 2010 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, April 15, 2010 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Earlie Holt, Rev. James Irions and Rev. Kenny Croft officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Barnes was born April 30, 1942 in Fitzgerald to the late William and Magdalene Wheelis Barnes. He moved back to Fitzgerald in 1965 after completing his Military Service. Mr. Barnes received a machinist and drafting degree from Ben Hill-Irwin Vo-Tech. He was a farmer, truck driver, former employee of Flintstones, Southern Veneer and Johnny Graham. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era. Mr. Barnes was a member of Barnes Chapel in Enigma and attended The Christian Tabernacle in Fitzgerald. He loved flying airplanes, racing go-carts, fishing and his passion was farming.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Margot Rampmeier Barnes of Fitzgerald; son & daughter-in-law: Billy & Debbie Barnes of Clarksville, TN; daughter & son-in-law: Mary & Rick Page of Ft. White, FL; grandchildren: Allison Price, Adam Huggins & Fiancee Amanda Swetmon and Miss Jordan Wilson; great grandchildren: Hunter Price and Braelyn Price; sister and brother-in-law: Joyce & John McAnally of Fitzgerald; as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy Barnes.
