Obituary

Edward Rose, 82, of New Bedford died Sunday April 11, 2010 at Southeastern Mass. Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Antone and Margaret (Burke) Rose, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

Mr. Rose was formerly employed as a police officer for the City of New Bedford Police Department for 30 years until his retirement.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed drawing, fishing, and photography. He loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include two sisters, Margaret Rose of New Bedford and Alice Stott and her husband Harold of Dartmouth; his sister-in-law, Mary Rose of New Bedford; and four nieces, Debra Peltier, Kathy Bergeron, Sandra Boucher, and Carol Onofrey.

He was the brother of the late Robert Rose and the uncle of the late Robert A. Souza.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9 AM at St. Mary's Church, Tarkiln Hill Rd. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
