TEWKSBURY - Esther J. “Essie” (Miller) Fidler, age 88, a resident of Tewksbury for more than4 decades, died Saturday, Oct. 18, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell, after a briefillness. She was the wife of Edward J. Fidler Sr., who died in January, 1998.
She was born in Boston, April 26, 1915, a daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Mary(Stevenson) Miller. She was raised in Roxbury, and graduated Roxbury High School. She livedin Charlestown and Wilmington before moving to Tewksbury in 1955. She had been in residenceat “Summer Place” in Chelmsford for the last 4 years.
Prior to retirement, she worked at Wang Laboratories, North Street, Tewksbury, as an inspector.
She was a communicant of St. William’s Church, and will be fondly remembered as havingdevoted her life to her family.
She is survived by eight daughters and their spouses, Dorothy “Dotty” Surrette of Highland, MD,Margaret “Peg” and her husband James Lewis of Temple, NH, Lorraine and her husband AngusJohnston of Hudson, NH, Geraldine “Geri ” and her husband Robert DiGiacomo of Chelmsford,Esther “Essie” O’Donnell and her fiancé Michael Yebba both of Lunenburg, Jacqueline and herhusband Edward Moloney of Chelmsford, Elaine “Micki” and her husband Kevin Rooney ofMarlborough, Rosemary and her husband Michael Dolbeare of Goffstown, NH; 23 grandchildren;37 great grandchildren; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
She was also mother of the late Edward J. Fidler Jr.; mother-in-law of the late Robert “Cy”Surrette; grandmother of the late James O’Donnell; and sister of the late Thomas Miller, WilliamMiller, Ena Kenney, and Gertrude Hession.
Her Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, Oct. 22 in St. William’s Church. Interment was in TewksburyCemetery.
