RAYMOND, NH - Ellen M. (Delany) Sherlock, age 81, formerly of Tewksbury, MA, died Saturday morning, April 10, at the Villa Crest Retirement Home in Manchester, NH, following a long period of declining health,. She was the beloved wife for 59 years of Richard T. "Dick" Sherlock, who died on January16, 2009.
She was born in Lowell, June 30, 1928, one of four children of the late Frederick and Irene (Connors) Delany, and raised in Lowell. She graduated from Lowell High School, and attended the former Lowell State Teachers College, now U-Mass Lowell, South Campus. She moved to Tewksbury in the 1950' where she raised her family. Although she had devoted her life to her family, as they grew, she worked for Wang Laboratories in Tewksbury. In retirement, she moved to Governors Lake in Raymond N.H., and wintered in Florida for the past twenty years. She will be remembered for her love of wildlife, animals, and the Democratic party.
She is survived by five daughters and a son-in-law, Jean Sherlock of Pelham, MA, Patricia "Patty" Moriarty of Belchertown, MA, Catherine McPhee and her husband Jack of Raymond, NH, Phyllis Randall of Madison, TN, and Susan "Susie" Sherlock of Claremont, NH; eight grandchildren, Francis Randall of Chichester, NH, Wayne Barrett of Seabrook, NH, Lani Sherlock and Junior Meach, both of Pelham, MA, Jared Moriarty of Belchertown, MA, Richard McPhee of Raymond, NH, Paul Mooney and Patrick Mooney both of Claremont, NH; four great grandchildren; Chhantana, Chhendara, Maevin, and Abby.
She was also sister of the late Ted Delany, Phyllis Mancini, and Judy Russo.
Memorial Services for Ellen and Dick were held April 15, 2010 followed by burial in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844, will be appreciated.
