Daniel G. "Dapper" Donovan, 78, a resident of Lawrence, MA., died Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Lawrence General Hospital.
He was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on May 20, 1931 to John and Margaret (Keating) Donovan. He attended St. Patrick’s Grammar School, and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. He served during the Korean War in the United States Army attaining the rank of Corporal. He worked for over 35 years for New England Telephone until his retirement. He was a long time parishioner of St. Patrick Church in Lawrence, MA. He was a member of the Lawrence Lodge Of Elks B.P.O.E. #65. He loved to play golf, and was an avid baseball fan of the Boston Red Sox.
He leaves his loving wife Anne Marie (Tremblay) Donovan, his children: a son; William and his wife Jean Donovan of Orange, MA. a daughter; Margaret and her husband Steven Geldart of Lexington, MA. a daughter; Brenda and her husband Michael Powell of Haverhill, MA. a son; Mark and his wife Sheila Donovan of Westford, MA. a son; Daniel G. Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Windham, NH. a son; Stephen Donovan of Lawrence, MA. a daughter; Elizabeth Donovan of Windham, NH. He is predeceased by his son John Donovan. He leaves one brother: Charles P. and his wife Marian of Florida. Daniel was the youngest of 10 Children. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 11:00AM in St. Patrick Church, Lawrence, MA. A burial will follow in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, North Andover, MA.
