John E. Coyne, 84, a lifelong resident of Walpole, died Friday, April 9, 2010, at the Harrington House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Walpole on May 5, 1925, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Joyce) Coyne.
Mr. Coyne was a WWII Marine Corps veteran and participated in action at Okinawa. He served for 2 ½ years and attained the rank of Private First Class.
Mr. Coyne was a caretaker at the Francis William Bird Park in Walpole for many years until his retirement.
He is survived by a brother, Martin J. Coyne of E. Walpole and was the brother of the late Barbara, Mary, Michael and Thomas Coyne.
He is also survived by three nephews, Martin Coyne of Napperville, IL, Thomas Coyne of Williamsburg, VA and Steven Coyne of Wakefield and four great-nieces and one great-nephew.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St. in Walpole on Wednesday, April 14 at 8:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, E. Walpole at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m.
