Obituary

Mary G. (Mauro) DiMatteo, a 70 year resident of Stoughton, passed away on ThursdayOctober 16,2003, in the Copley At Stoughton Nursing Facility. She was 101 years old. Mrs. DiMatteo was the loving wife of the late Domenick C. DiMatteo.

Born April 23,1902, in Marlborough,MA, she was the daughter of the late Mr. EugeneAnd Mrs. Rosaria (Gorrasi) Mauro.

She attended Marlborough Public Schools.

She was employed by the former New England Telephone Co. in Marlborough, as a Phone Operator. Also, she was a longtime member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, where she was employed as a Seamstress.

Mrs. DiMatteo was very dedicated to her family.

Mrs. DiMatteo was a co-founder of the DiMatteo family business Bob’s Foodmart of Stoughton.

She was a longtime communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. She was also a member of the Daughters of Italy in Stoughton.

She was a very hard worker, she enjoyed flowers, knitting, sewing, cooking, tatting,crocheting and most importantly, taking care of her family.

She is survived by her children, Robert F. DiMatteo and his wife Joan of Stoughton, Frances M. Ricci and her husband Anthony of Rhode Island and the late Richard C. DiMatteo. She is also survived by a daughter in law Carolyn DiMatteo of Marlborough and two sisters in law, Rose Celi of Wareham and Josephine Mauro also of Marlborough. Also survived by 14 Grandchildren, 26 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Lucia and brothers: Charles, Arthur, Patrick ,William and Ernest.

Funeral from the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton on Monday October 20,2003 at 9:00 AM , followed by a Mass Of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street,Stoughton, At 10:15 AM. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Visiting hours are on Sunday October 19,2003, from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston,MA 02215, or The American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham,MA 01701-4688, in Mary’s memory, would be appreciated.
