George W. Rowe, Sr. age 75, a longtime resident of West Bridgewater passed away peacefully April 7, 2010 with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving and devoted husband of 54 years to Edna A. (McLaughlin) Rowe.
George was born, raised and educated in Easton a son of the late Arthur Rowe and Eva (Nickerson)(Rowe) Verdone. Until illness forced his retirement, he had been employed for almost 50 years at Phillips Screw Machine in Stoughton where he was a supervisor and tool and die maker.
In his free time George enjoyed the Red Sox, golfing, cruises and tending his vegetable garden. He was a true family man and had hundreds of friends.
In addition to his wife George is survived by his son and daughter-in-law George and Diana Rowe of Yarmouthport and his grandchildren Travis and Amy Rowe also of Yarmouthport. He was predeceased in death by his loving daughter Brenda Rowe. He is also survived by two sisters Gloria Rowe of Bourne and Joyce Verdone of Manchester, NH and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life for George on Saturday April 24, 2010 from 1-4 pm at the Brockton Country Club 265 Samuel Ave., Brockton.
