William J. Buonagurio, 76, of Sun City, AZ died Friday April 2, 2010 in Banner-Boswell Medical Center, Sun City. Bill was born in Boston, MA on May 5, 1933, son of the late Daniel and Marguerite (McGovern) Buonagurio. He was raised in Milton, MA and was a 1951 graduate of Milton High School and later graduated from the Massachusetts Military Academy in 1954. He was a retired US Army Major having served with the Massachusetts National Guard from 1949 - 1971. Bill had resided in Sun City for the past seven years, formerly living in Londonderry, NH and Chelmsford, MA. He worked for Hooper Holmes in Boston for many years and later was co-owner and vice president of DataRep Associates in Burlington and Billerica, MA. Bill's memberships in the Peoria, AZ area included, the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post #62. He enjoyed travel, movies, and anything relative to military and history.
He is survived by two sons, John E. Buonagurio of Peoria, AZ, William Mark Buonagurio of Weymouth, MA, two daughters, Ann Marie Allienello of Quincy, MA, and Jayne E. Hammel of Braintree, MA, also five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in 2000 by his wife, Margaret "Monica" Buonagurio.
Calling hours are Friday April 16, 2010 from 5 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00am in St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Burial with honors will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Londonderry. Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
