Obituary

Worcester- Henry F. Staruk, Sr., 80, of 10 Meade St., died Friday, Oct. 17, in Christopher House.

His wife of 50 years, Alfreda M. (Kazmierczak) Staruk, died in 1999. He leaves four sons, Henry F. Staruk Jr. of Knoxville, TN, Robert J. Staruk of Worcester, John J. Staruk of Holden, and David J. Staruk of Millbury; three daughters, Ann Marie Rushford, Elaine F. Staruk, and Joanne F. Staruk, all of Worcester; two brothers, Walter Staruk of Florida, and Joseph Staruk of Sutton; a sister, Ethel Astukiewicz of Leicester; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Harry Staruk, Chester Staruk, and Edward Staruk, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Joseph and Mary (Kramek) Staruk, and lived here all his life. He was educated in Worcester Schools.

Mr. Staruk was an auto parts salesman for 15 years at Kraska Corp, retiring in 1988. He had previously worked at Christie & Thompson Co. for 30 years.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish and the St. Mary's Boosters. He was a life member and past Commander of the Polish American Veterans of World War II and was a member of it’s former bowling league.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Oct. 21, from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, in the funeral home. Members of the Polish American Veterans of World War II will meet at 5 p.m. during the calling hours to conduct a ritual.
