Dorothy (MacGinnis) Sylvia, 87, of New Bedford died April 6, 2010 at Sacred Heart Nursing Home.
She was the wife of the late Manuel P. Sylvia.
Born in Wareham, the daughter of the late Arthur G. and Mary L. (Little) MacGinnis, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Mrs. Sylvia was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Women's League, and a former member of the English Speaking Union, Sons of Italy and St. Joseph's Church Prayer Group. She was a pro-life supporter.
Survivors include 2 sons, William A. Sylvia of Fairhaven and Alfred T. Sylvia of New Bedford; a daughter, Edith A. Ventura of New Bedford; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and a niece.
She was the sister of the late Arthur G. MacGinnis, Jr., and Scott MacGinnis.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Saturday, April 10th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, April 9th from 4-7 PM.
