Mary Shalkey, 106, died Sunday in Allied Skilled Nursing. She was the wife of Alex Shalkey, who died in 1984.
Born Aug. 28, 1903, in Sturges, daughter of the late John and Maria Dubiell Zipay, she was a longtime resident of Montdale, where she owned Shalkeys Café with her husband. She was a member of Corpus Christi Church, now St. John Vianney Parish, and was an active member until 2002.
Mary's family would like to thank the staff of Allied Skilled Nursing Center, fourth-floor south, for the kind and compassionate care she was given in her time there.
Surviving are a son, Alex and wife, Josephine, Vestal, N.Y.; three granddaughters; five grandsons, several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Edward, and a daughter, Marie Green.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Parish at Corpus Christie Church, Montdale. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Scott Twp.
