Obituary

Melchiore "Mike" C. Salvo, 89 of Lawrence, MA died Tuesday April 6, 2010 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Nashua, NH. Mr. Salvo was born in Lawrence, MA on August 16, 1920, son of the late Melchiore and Maria (Renda) Salvo and was a lifelong resident. He served with the US Army Air Force during WWII as an instrument mechanic. He was a co-owner of Salvo Brothers Tailoring in Lawrence until 1975 and later opened the Professional Tailors with his wife and daughters. He was a former member of Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by one son, Mike A. Salvo and his wife Kristen of Windham, NH, two daughters, Frances M. Fitzgerald and her husband Jim of Lawrence, Marie F. Salvo of Lawrence, one grandson, Jeffrey Fitzgerald of Lawrence, two step-grandchildren, Robert Thornton and Meghan Thornton both of Windham, a sister, Josephine Moran and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Verzi) Salvo in 2008 and also by his brother, Mario Thomas Salvo.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, private graveside services will be held in St. Mary's-Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH is handling arrangements.
