George A. Marathas age 75 formerly of Canton of Marshfield passed away April 4th at the Hospice of Palm Beach County in Florida. Born and raised in Canton, he graduated from Canton High School and Northeastern University. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a Manager for Plymouth Rubber, Polaroid & Marathon Floors before retiring. Beloved husband of Joan M. (McMahon). Father of Judy Jones of W. Barnstable, David Marathas & his wife Melanie of Taunton & Angela Marathas of CA. Step-father of Peter Donovan & his wife Jennifer of NY, Matthew Donovan & his wife Jennifer of S. Boston & Amy Donovan of Marshfield. Brother of Irene Gardner of Canton, Nicholas J. Marathas of Canton, Helen Destito of Norwood, Sophie Soja of CT, Perry Marathas of Georgetown, Nancy Krowski & Paul Marathas both of N. Easton & the late Charles Marathas, Poppy Viscariello, Peter, Mitzi & Faith Marathas. Also survived by 13 grandchildren. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Sunday 4-8 pm. Funeral service at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Brockton Monday morning at 10. Burial at the VA National Cemetery, Bourne.
