Timothy "Tim" Stone Holland, 80, of New Bedford died October 7, 2003 at home after a protracted illness.
He was the former husband of the late Rachel V. (Carnegie) Holland and son of the late Gloucester and Ionia (Murray) Holland.
A native of Aiken, South Carolina, he graduated from Queens College in New York. He worked for the Board of Education in New York City and studied at Columbia University before moving to Fall River in 1962 to work as an urban planner.
During World War II, he served in the U. S. Army and participated in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of Northern France. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Survivors include 3 sons, Daniel Holland, Atty. Frank Holland and Sean Holland; a daughter, Dr. Kim Holland; a sister, Marie Maroney; 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Tim S. Holland and sister of the late Sarah Holland.
His private Funeral Service was held on October 10th followed by burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
