Georgeann Gray Simmons, 67, of Lenox died Sunday, April 4, 2010, at her son’s residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Carpenter Road Church of God. Rev. Salone Green and Rev. Ray Garner will officiate with burial to follow at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Lenox. Darrell Woods, Shane Fountain, Donnie Purvis, Joey Marta, Darinn Hardeman and Danny Bennett will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Carpenter Road Young At Heart. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals
Mrs. Simmons was born on November 26, 1942 in Ocilla and was the daughter of Luther Gray and Elizabeth Sapp Gray, both deceased. She was retired as a secretary from the R.C. Bottling Company and was a member of Carpenter Road Church of God and also attended Faith Ministries in Nashville, where her son, Phillip, serves as pastor. She had lived in Lenox for 32 years.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her husband, Johnny Simmons of Lenox; three sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Lisa Simmons of Lenox, Phillip and Kim Simmons of Nashville and Jerry and Sherri Simmons of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Erron Smart of Lenox; one brother, Leonard Gray of Enigma; one sister-in-law, Faye Jarvis of Lenox; eight grandchildren, Brian Simmons, Kellie Philpot, Tyler Brock, Alyssa Simmons, Kal Simmons, Taylor Simmons, Avery Smart and Addison Smart; and one great grandchild, Bailey Brock.
