Obituary

Joseph T. Skinner, 80, of Whitman, died Friday April 2nd in the Signature Healthcare, Brockton Hospital, after a long illness. He was the husband of Ruth E. (Smith) Skinner. Joe was born in Boston, son of the late George and Dorothy (Durant) Skinner.
He was raised in Abington, a graduate of Abington High School and he also attended Wentworth Institute in Boston.
Joe was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War, he served from 1948-1952.
In his earlier years he worked as a mechanical engineer.
Joe was an avid fisherman, he built and flew radio controlled planes and in his later years he enjoyed bird watching.
In addition to his wife Ruth, he is survived by his son , Stephen Skinner of Norwell, his daughter, Debra Messier of Hanson, his sister Nancy Monahan of Abington; also 6 grandchildren.

His services will be held on Thursday April 8th at 1:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman .Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington, MA Family and friends may attend his visitation on Wednesday April 7th from 6:00-9:00PM.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101A First Ave., Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451 or to the Whitman Fire Department, 56 Temple St., Whitman, MA 02382.
