WEBSTER – Leonard W. Rivers, 74, of 11 Perryville Road, died Wednesday, October 15, at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester after being stricken ill at home.
He leaves his wife of 40 years, Edna G. (Dojan) Rivers; a sister, Louise McKay, of Brookfield; a nephew, a niece, and a grandnephew. He was pre-deceased by 2 brothers Roland and Roger Rivers.
He was born in Southbridge son of the late Phillip and Annette (LePain) Rivers. He attended Southbridge High School.
Mr. Rivers was a Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam era.
He was employed as a foreman at the Schott Fiber Optics, Inc. in Southbridge retiring in 1989. Before that he worked at the American Optical Company in Southbridge.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, in Oxford. He enjoyed watching sports and spent much time reading, especially history books.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Webster. There are no calling hours. Memorial Contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 70 South Main Street, Oxford, MA 01540.
