Obituary

Gerald R. "Gerry" L'Etoile, 79, died Tuesday evening at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence.
Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Alfred and Helena (Sarault) L’Etoile. He was raised in Central Falls, resided most of his life in Rhode Island, and lived in Hull, Massachusetts for over 25 years.
Mr. L’Etoile served in the Coast Guard during the Korean War.
While living in Hull, Gerry was involved in providing housing and services for persons with substance abuse issues. He derived a great sense of satisfaction from giving guidance and assistance to individuals as they recovered from their challenges.
Gerry was an avid sports fan and especially loved the Boston Celtics.
He is survived by a son, Paul L’Etoile, and his wife Susan, of North Smithfield, and a daughter, Suzanne M. Spencer, and her husband W. Thomas Spencer, Jr. of Marlborough. He was the father of the late Lynn G. Quirk. He was the brother of Albert L’Etoile of South Attleboro. Gerry is also survived by 6 grandchildren, William T., III, and John B. Spencer, Nicole A. Durand, David P. L’Etoile, Amy and Lisa Quirk, 3 great-grandchildren, Angeliah Durand, Conor Renaud, and Brett Durand, and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be Monday at 11:30 am in the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. A private burial with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours are Monday from 10:30-11:30 am prior to services.
