WORCESTER: Mildred M. "Millie" (Stenborg) Hansen, R.N., age 85, a resident of Worcester for the past 10 years, formerly of Tewksbury, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Holy Trinity Nursing Home in Worcester surrounded by her children.
She was the beloved wife of the late Harold G. Hansen.
Born in Medford on December 28, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Iver Stenborg and the late Marion (Jones) Stenborg.
Mildred was raised in Revere, attended Revere schools and graduated from Revere High School in 1942.
Following graduation, she entered the Chelsea Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her degree in nursing.
In 1952, Mildred moved to Tewksbury, where she resided until moving to Billerica in 1975. Following 10 years in Billerica, she returned to live in Tewksbury until relocating in Worcester in 1999.
Mrs. Hansen was a member of the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, and a former member and past president of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club and Senior Drop-In-Center.
During her working years, she was employed as a nurse at the Lowell General Hospital and later at the Tewksbury State Hospital until her retirement.
Mrs. Hansen enjoyed tap dancing and sewing. Millie's love was directing and starring in many productions of musicals and comedies with the Tewksbury United Methodist Church and Tewksbury Senior Center. Millie saw her love of dance pass down to her granddaughters.
She is survived by one son, Harry Hansen of Las Vegas, NV; two daughters, Lizbeth A. "Betsy"( Hansen) Nippert and her husband Theodore of Norton and Laraine (Hansen Breckenridge) Lacob and her husband Jonathan of Auburn; one brother, Iver Stenborg and his wife Layle of FL; one sister, Lorraine Bruno of FL; four grandchildren, Jonathan and Jenna Nippert and Amy and Jill Breckenridge; her former son-in-law, James Breckenridge of St. Louis, MO; many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hansen was the sister of the late Lois Meli, formerly of Revere.
Millie's family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Holy Trinity Nursing Home and Holy Trinity Hospice for their devoted and loving care.
Calling hours Monday, April 5th, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 6th at 11 a.m., at the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, cor. of Main and South Sts., Tewksbury. Following cremation, interment will take place at the Tewksbury Cemetery. Kindly OMIT Flowers.
