Edward M. Dyer, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at his home in Charlestown following a brief illness. He was 89 years old.
Ed was born in Boston. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools. Ed enlisted into the United States Army and served his country faithfully during World War ll. Ed worked as a longshoreman on the Boston waterfront for many years and was a member of The International Longshoreman's Association Union Local # 799.
Ed is the beloved husband of the late Kathleen L. (White) Dyer. He is the devoted father of Joanne Dyer of Charlestown, Edward M. Dyer of Charlestown and the late Thomas P. Dyer. He is the loving grandfather of James, Edward, Matthew, Thomas Dyer and the late Conor Morales. He is the beloved brother of William Dyer and his wife Carol of West Roxbury, the late Sis O'Neil, Mary Johnson, James, Frank, Martha, Catherine and Charles White.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ed's Funeral Service on Friday morning, April 2, 2010 at 11 a.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, April 1, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m.
