Obituary

Middleboro, Albert W. Masse a N. Dighton resident, died March 26, 2010 at Golden Living Center of Oak Hill after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 years of age. Mr. Masse was the loving husband of Constance (Connie) Brais. He was born in Providence RI Son of the late John Masse and Florence (Riddensdale) Masse. Prior to moving to N. Dighton Mr. and Mrs. Masse retired to Florida. He was also a long time resident in Rehoboth prior to retirement. Mr. Masse was a Truck Driver for James C. Goff Company for 33 years before retiring. He was a member of the United States Navy. He served in WWII he received the WWII Victory Medal, American Ribbon Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He also received the Presidential Unit Citation. He served aboard the U.S.S. Hornet. He was a past president of the U.S.S. Hornet Club, Inc., and a charter member of the Incorporating Committee of the U.S.S. Hornet Memorial Fund. Mr. Masse is a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Church in N. Dighton. He enjoyed Traveling and camping with his children. In addition to his wife he leaves three daughters, Veronica Skaling of Florida, Mary Jean Casey of Georgia and Michelle Beaulieu of N. Dighton two sons Michael Masse of W. Bolyston MA and Steven Masse of New York, one sister Helen Degnan of Providence RI He was also the brother of the late Florence Willis, John Masse and Walter masse. He was the loving grandfather of seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Mr. Masse Funeral Services will be held at the Taunton Funeral Home 8 Crapo St. (off Tremont St.) on Wednesday March 31st at 8:00am Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Nicholas of Myra Church in N. Dighton at 9:00am Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4pm-8pm Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter RI In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of ones choice in memory of Mr. Masse.
