Robert D. “Bevo” Brown, 71, of Metamora passed away at 2:39am Sunday March 28, 2010 at Washington Christian Village in Washington.
Bob was born on January 17, 1939 in Peoria the son of Leo and Marie Fulscher Brown. He married Linda Reatherford Sept. 4th, 1965 in Peoria.
Surviving are three children Jennifer L (Steve) Barber; Melissa A. (Andy) Svymbersky both of Peoria and Bobby L. Brown of Macomb, IL. He is further survived by his mother Marie Swanson of Metamora, 12 grandchildren as well as one brother James Brown of Taylorville, and one step-sister Rita (Art) Carlson of Luling, LA. Further surviving are four nieces, two nephews, two great nieces and five great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Bob was a 1957 graduate of Academy of Our Lady in Peoria where he was an exceptional basketball player. Bob worked at Butternut Bread Company in Peoria for many years retiring in 1979 and was a member of Parkview United Church of Christ in Peoria. He was an avid listener of country music.
Services will be 11am Thursday April 1, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home in Metamora with Rev. Stephen Barch officiating. Visitation will be one-hour prior to his services at the funeral home. Burial will follow his service at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Those serving as pallbears will be Jacob Barber, Thomas Svymbersky, Alex Beagle, Noah Gallop, Steve Barber, Andy Svymbersky, Todd Beagle and Bobby Brown.
