WORCESTER__ Lena A. (Hammarstrom) Panczyk, 91, died Sunday, March 28, 2010 in St. Mary Healthcare Center, 39 Queen St. Her husband, William Panczyk died in 1985. She leaves two daughters, Linda Johnson and her husband, Raymond, and Christine Gorgoglione and her husband, Vincent; three grandchildren, Lisa and Amy Johnson, Matthew Gorgoglione; two great grandchildren, Kayla and Tyler Johnson; a special godchild, Linda Vivlamore; nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Carl and Herbie Hammarstrom: a sister, Meridith Ryan and a grandson, Justin Curtin. She was born in Shrewsbury, MA, a daughter of Carl and Lena (Lamont) Hammarstrom.
Mrs. Panczyk was a homemaker. She graduated from the former Howard Beale High School in Shrewsbury, MA. She enjoyed doing crafts and sewing. Lena was an avid New England sports fan. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of St. Mary Healthcare Center, for the care and kindness shown to their mother during her illness.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 31, in HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., following a calling hour from 6:00- 7:00 PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Healthcare Center, 39 Queen St., Worcester, MA, 01609.
