Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Gladys M. (Silveira) Callahan passed away peacefully on March 24, 2010 following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Russell F. Callahan.
Born in Gloucester on December 8, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Joaquin and Lauriana (Viator) Silveira. A lifelong resident, she was a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1932. She worked for many years in the Gorton’s of Gloucester offices.
Gladys celebrated her 95th birthday in December of 2009, having lived a long, full and happy life enjoying family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila A. Callahan-Young and Arthur Young, her brother-in-law Richard Lopes and his wife Beverly, nieces and nephews, Christine (Guittarr) Elbanna and her husband Sherif, Gail Guittarr, Sandra (Smith) Anderton, David Smith and his wife Carol, Diane (Griffin) Andrioli, Nancy (Griffin) Whynott, Susan (Griffin) Shaw and her husband Preston, Dana Griffin and his wife Leah, Linda (Lopes) Messick, Laura (Lopes) Luke and her husband Robert, Dr. Richard Lopes and his wife Linda, and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She also leaves her lifelong friends, Georgia Forest and Dorothy Hagstrom. Gladys was also predeceased by three sisters and their husbands, Mildred and Alexander Guittarr, Rina and Arthur Smith, and Angela and Roy Griffin, as well as nephews, Scott Guittarr, Robert Smith, Douglas Whynott, and Frank Andrioli.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.
