Joan S. (Stewart) Dennis, a lifelong resident of Medford and beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Dennis, passed away at the Winchester Hospital on Friday evening, March 26, 2010. She was 77 years old.
Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, on June 21, 1932, she was the beloved daughter of the late Melville A. and Irene (Brown) Stewart. Joan was a graduate of Medford High School, class of 1950. She had been a very active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and had worked as a secretary for many years at the Grace Episcopal Church in Medford. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafts, especially making wreaths and flower arrangements. She also enjoyed decorating wedding cakes. Above all, Joan was a loving mother and grandmother.
She will be sorely missed by her loving son; Jay S. Dennis of Medford and daughter; Irene S. Dennis and her partner David Paterson, both of Bangor, Maine and one granddaughter, Emma Paterson-Dennis.
Her funeral service will be celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Thursday, April 1, 2010, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2010, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Donations in Joan's memory may be made to the Melrose Humane Society, P.O.
