LOWELL—Richard P. Byrd, 64 years old, died early Wednesday morning at the Willow Manor Nursing Home, in Lowell.
He was born in Lowell, on January 19, 1939, a son of the late John W. and Frances P. (O’Donnell) Byrd, Sr. and was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception Grammar School and Lowell High School.
Mr. Byrd served in the United States Navy aboard the USS The Sullivans in the late 1950’s. He had been employed as a Mason for many years, and was a member of the Mason’s Union. He also held membership in the Portuguese American Club.
Surviving him are a brother and sister-in-law: John W. and Priscilla Byrd, of Fairhaven, NJ; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Frances E. and Lawrence Day, of Cape Neddick, ME; and Ellen A. and Martin Maher, of Dunstable; six nephews: Jeff, Mark, Eric Byrd, Martin Maher, Jr., Lawrence Day, Jr., and Shawn Day; three nieces: Frances Day Graves, Kimberly Maher Hannemann and Erin Maher Blodgett.
A memorial mass will be offered at the Immaculate Conception Church on November 7th at 7:30 AM.
