Alfred E. Detollenaere, 92, of Derry, NH, died Saturday, March 27, 2010 in the Grace House of Windham in Windham, NH. A son of Albert and Leona (Albers) Detollenaere, he was born on March 1, 1918 in Lawrence, MA, where he was raised and lived for many years. He was a resident of Derry for the past eight years, formerly wintering in Ft. Pierce, FL and summering on Angle Pond in Sandown, NH. Mr. Detollenaere retired from General Tire - Bolta Division in Lawrence, MA where he worked for many years. He and his wife were former parishioners of St. Patrick's Church in Lawrence, MA.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Loretta (Vandenhecke) Detollenaere of Derry; his son, Michael R. Detollenaere of Derry; his daughter, Judith A. Boivin of Jessup, MD; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, March 30th from 6 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00am in Mary Mother of the Church, 12 Amesbury Rd., Newton, NH. Entombment followed in St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Mausoleum in Lawrence.
