Obituary

Marjorie E. Cookson, 97 formerly of Needham died March 26 in the Medway Country Manor.
Born in Boston, April 26, 1912, the daughter of the late Mowry and Mary Agnes (Davidson) Cookson, Miss Cookson had lived in Needham for most of her life prior to moving to Franklin where she lived until last year.
Miss Cookson had been a telephone operator and supervisor to the New England Telephone Company for many years before retiring.
She had been a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a former member of the First Baptist Church of Needham and had been a volunteer at the Fernald School in Waltham.
Miss Cookson was a lifelong diehard fan of the Boston Red Sox. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, dancing, playing bingo, music, and just being with family and friends.
She was the sister of the late Alfred Cookson, Geraldine Crook, Mowry Cookson and Barbara Malloy.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Evelyn Cookson of Sherborn, her nieces and nephews, Cheryl Cody and her husband George of Franklin, Sandra Patterson and her husband David of Cameron, North Carolina, James Malloy and his wife Susan of West Hartford, CT, Wayne Cookson and his wife Kathleen of Windsor, CT and Gregory Malloy and his wife Marie of Windsor, CT. She was the aunt of the late Kathleen Harsberger.
She is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service and burial in Pine Hill Cemetery will be private.
