Mr. Ronald J. “Frenchie” Leger. of Taunton, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 25 in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Cecile M. (Richard) Leger. He was born 75 years ago in New Brunswick, Canada, the son of the late Amedee and Laudie (Hebert) Leger. He was educated in Canada and had been a Taunton resident for the past 36 years. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a machinist at the
Paul A. Dever State School for 20 years. Mr. Leger served in the Royal Canadian Army. He was a former member of the Italian Naturalization Club in Taunton. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, socializing with his family and friends and spending time with his
grandchildren. He was a communicant of St. Nicholas of Myra Church in North Dighton.
In addition to his wife, he leaves:
1 son: Michael J. Leger and his wife, Jennifer of Berkley
3 daughters: Diane J. Carlos and her husband, Kenneth of Florida
Lucille M. Leger of New Hampshire
Nancy M. Bernier and her husband, Thomas of Taunton
1 sister: Doris Darling and her husband David of Mashpee
7 grandchildren: Jeffrey McCrohan, Trevor Bernier, Kristine Carlos, Cora Bernier,
Cody Leger, Sydney Leger and Cali Leger
1 great granddaughter: Skylar McCrohan
several nieces and nephews
Mr. Leger was also the father of the late Joanne Leger and the late Richard Leger.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Monday, March 29 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Nicholas of Myra Church, No. Dighton, at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery (Annex). Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M.
