Donald M. Davoli, died March 24 in Rochester Hills, Michigan. He was eighty years old. Donald was born and raised in Medford, the son of the late Italo Joseph and Hazel (Murray) Davoli. He graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1947. Following high school he enrolled in Boston College where he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. Upon returning from Korea, he then enrolled in Bentley College to finish his degree and graduated with a degree in Accounting. A career military man, he then enlisted in the United States Air Force and fought in the Vietnam War. Donald was the recipient of numerous decorations and metals, including the Korean Service Metal and Bronze Star. Throughout his military career he and his wife Joan, also an Air Force veteran, were stationed around the country including Arizona, California, Michigan and Georgia. He also served in Italy. After retiring, with over twenty years of service, from the Air Force, he took a position with the Federal Aviation Administration as an Avionics Engineer.
Donald was the beloved husband of the late Joan (Tucker) Davoli. He was a devoted father of Donna Virkus of Rochester Hills, MI. Cherished Grandpa to Nick and Kelley Virkus. Loving brother of Joseph Davoli and his wife Marie of San Jose, CA and Doris Luppi of Medford. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, Monday March 29 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held Sunday, March 28, from 4 thru 8 in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, Medford. Services will conclude with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Boston. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, 4100 John R. Detroit, Michigan 48201.
