Irene “Edna” Lopes Hurley, age 100 of Fall River passed away March 26, 2010. Widow of Harry J. Hurley and Antone J. Lopes, she was the daughter of the late Frank & Mary (Arruda) Medeiros and was a retired weaver in various local mills.
She is mother of Antone Lopes and his wife Helen of Taunton and his late wife Lucille, Frank Lopes and his wife Rita of Fall River and George Lopes and his wife Pauline of Dartmouth, Mary Wetherell and her late husband Crawford “Babe” of Westport and Genevieve Ksen and her companion Paul Deforge and late husband Teddy of Fall River; sister of Edith Kirby of Fall River and the late Manuel, Joseph, Antone and John Medeiros, Emily Braga and Melinda Paiva, Mary Botelho, Jennie Mello and Gladys Gonsalves; grandmother of 22 grandchildren, great grandmother of many great grandchildren and aunt of several nieces & nephews.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. MONDAY at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Notre Dame Church at 10 A.M. Interment in MAPLE GROVE Cemetery. Calling hours SUNDAY 4-8 P.M. Special thanks to the staff of the Highlander Nursing Home for the attention and care given to our mother.
