Ann K. Bynum, 82, of Swainsboro (formerly of Fitzgerald) died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, in Swainsboro.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Central United Methodist Church with Dr. Buddy Cooper, Dr. William Woodson, Rev. B.J. Funk and Rev. Keith Goodlett officiating. John Croley will give the eulogy. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Bynum was born June 25, 1927 in Ailey, Georgia to the late James R. and Oppie Fuqua Kitchen. She lived in Swainsboro for the past three years from Fitzgerald. Mrs. Bynum graduated from Brewton Parker High School, graduated from the University of Georgia in 1948 and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She did post-graduate studies at Emory University. She was a retired Librarian for Fitzgerald City Schools and then went back to work as a Media Specialist at Lynwood Elementary School. Mrs. Bynum was a member of the Ben Hill-Irwin Retired Educators Association, the Best Bridge Club and a member of Central United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Bynum is survived by her children: Dr. Brad (Vicki) Bynum of Valdosta, Bonnie (Sidney) Lanier of Swainsboro and Burt (Shannon) Bynum of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Bradley Bynum & Aulden Bynum, both of Valdosta, Luke(Susannah) Lanier and Leah Lanier, both of Swainsboro and Halle Bynum and Landon Bynum, both of Fitzgerald. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Leroy Bynum and two brothers, James R. Kitchen, Jr. and John F. Kitchen.
