Dorothy Anne (Thea) Meyer, 54, passed from this life into our Savior’s arms on Wednesday, March 24th, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Thea was born in New York City to Lawrence and Dorothy Medich and was raised in New Jersey, graduating from Montclair State College in 1978. Thea married Eric in 1980 where they began a life of travel and adventure together in the Air Force. Her sons were born in New Hampshire, California, and England and always benefited from her desire to learn new environments. Their love of New Hampshire brought them to Londonderry in 1992 where they settled to raise their children. It was here she earned a Masters Degree in Education and tirelessly served the community as a 4th grade teacher at Matthew Thornton School in Londonderry for the past nine years.
Thea was a devoted wife and mother who made raising her three sons and maintaining a home a top priority in her life. She was also dedicated to her students, using her many artistic talents, her ability to translate a concept, and her sense of humor to try and reach everyone in her classroom. Also a talented artist, she won several awards for her paintings and passed those abilities to her children. She was a long time and active member of Orchard Christian Fellowship Church in Londonderry, serving on several church committees. She will be remembered most for her dry sense of humor and willingness to always help others.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Eric of Londonderry, her sons Eric II and his wife Holly of Washington DC, and Steven and Christopher of Londonderry; her brother Steve and his wife Carol of Hazlet, NJ; many nieces and nephews as well as many, many friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Calling hours were held on Friday, March 26th from 4 - 8pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A memorial service was held at St Marks Church, 1 South Rd., Londonderry on Saturday, March 27th, at 10:00am.
