Sarah Newell Goder, 74, Clarksville, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Montgomery Care and Rehab Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Meg Flannagan officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service Friday at the church. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born March 26, 1935 in Goshen, IN, daughter of the late Taylor Newell and Florence Cunningham Newell. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Curlee. She was a member of First Presbyterian church where she was a member of the choir for over twenty years. She volunteered for eleven years as secretary for the Pastoral Counseling Center of Clarksville and worked at Parks Belk for many years. Survivors include her husband, Thomas D. Goder; son, David Goder (Lesa); two daughters, Marjorie Frost (Charles) and Elizabeth G. Wallace, all of Clarksville; five grandchildren, Amy Goder, Sarah Wallace, Matthew Goder, Megan Goder, and Taylor Frost; and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Hutchinson and Quentin Goder.
