Mildred H. Seckler age 92 of Washburn passed away at 4:35am Monday March 22, 2010
at the Heritage Manor in Minonk Illinois. She was born June 18, 1917 in Eldrid, MN to John
W. and Elizabeth ”Lulu” (Stiel) Donohue. She married Everett E. Seckler on Feb. 15, 1936 in Metamora. He preceded her in death in 1959.
Survivors include six sons John (Jack) Seckler of Spring Bay, Arnold of Cazenovia, Steve (Betty) of Washburn, Dennis (Suzie) of Metamora, Bruce (Nancy) of Cazenovia, and Norman (Sharon) of Roanoke. Five daughters Edna Marchand of Peoria, Candace (Jack) Miller of Foley Alabama, Mary (Dale) Shawback of Lostant, Theresa Seckler of E. Peoria, and Jean (Dave) Stivers of Washburn. Also surviving are 32 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and one brother Donald (Loretta) Noe of Van Couver WA. She was preceded in death by one infant daughter Lois, 2 great grand sons, 2 brothers Harry and John, and a sister Edna Strong.
A long time resident of Metamora, Washburn area, Mildred worked at the Washburn Nursing Home and later at Eureka Hospital retiring in 1992. She loved gardening, flowers and was a wonderful cook. Mildred was happiest when holding one of her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00am Wednesday March 24, 2010 at the Mason Funeral Home
Metamora Chapel. Father Don Roszkowski officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00am until service time at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Metamora. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to TCRC or Heritage Manor in Minonk.
