Anna Jean Mariani 74, of Walnut Hill Rd. died Wednesday at the Philip Hulitar Center in Providence. She was the wife of Edward A. Mariani. Mrs. Mariani was born in Providence a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Sabina (Ciavardini) Vona. She was a customer service representative for Milford Federal Savings and Loan in Woonsocket for six years retiring in September of 2000. Mrs. Mariani was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and was the 2008 Recipient of the Outstanding Administrative Assistant Award. She was a member of the Counting Team and the Decorating Committee at St. Joseph's Parish.
Besides her husband she leaves two daughters, Susan Wachta and her husband James of Attleboro, and Diane Marie Mariani of Woonsocket; two sisters Josephine Florio of East Providence and Elizabeth Urso of Barrington; and a granddaughter Elizabeth Wachta. She was also the sister of the late Isabelle Wade, John Vona, Armando Vona and Edmond "Tim" Vona.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Mendon Rd. Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd Ste. 3004, Warwick RI 02886 or Philip Hulitar Center, 1085 N. Main St. Providence, RI 02954 in her memory would be appreciated.
