
GLOUCESTER: Anna I. (Grant) Parsons, 93, formerly of Essex Avenue, died Monday, March 15, 2010 in the Addison Gilbert Hospital. She was the wife of the late Assistant City Clerk Elliott H. Parsons, who died on March 17, 1980. They had shared forty-four years of marriage.
Born in Gloucester on July 29, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Lewis S. and Emily I. (Roberts) Grant. She was a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1933. During World War II, she volunteered many hours at the Addison Gilbert Hospital as a Red Cross Nurses’ Aide.
Mrs. Parsons retired from the Gloucester public school system as an administrative assistant, having worked primarily at the former Maplewood and Milton L. Fuller Elementary Schools.
She was a member of the Gloucester Women’s Club, the Business and Professional Women’s Club, and Our Lady of Good Voyage Church Guild. Mrs. Parsons traveled extensively and visited many parts of the world. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carole Anne and Clifford W. “Joe” McLellan of E. Granby, CT, two granddaughters, Julianna C., wife of Scott Kentel of Lawrence, and Emily A., wife of James T. Ide of Jericho, VT, five great-grandchildren, Cassidy A. and Charlotte P. Ide, Alex S., Adam C. and Andy E. Kentel. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, John L. “Let” Sutherland and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by and a great-granddaughter, Bryanna V. Kentel, her sister, Natalie W. Sutherland and two brothers, Edward and Roland Grant.
Funeral services were held privately in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Lanesville.
