Ruth Mortimer Cooper, age 94, died March 18, 2010 at the Yalobusha County Hospital In Water Valley. She was born March 14, 1916 to the late William Henry and Bessie Holmes Mortimer in Winona, MS, and was preceded in death in 1998 by her husband, J. A. Cooper. She was a devoted mother and homemaker, and delighted in being a member of the Polly Rook Club comprised of some of her lifelong and dearest friends. Mrs. Cooper had been a resident of Yalobusha County Nursing Home since 1991.
The funeral service was held in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home on Sunday, March 21 at 2:00 PM with Bro. Fred Eakes presiding. She was buried beside her husband in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS.
She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Edwards and her husband, Mike, of Water Valley, MS and Marti Boykin and her husband, Winston,of Carl Junction, MO; four grandchildren, Kevin Edwards and his wife, Mindy, of Olive Branch, MS, Ty Edwards and his wife, Julie, of Water Valley, MS, Wyatt Boykin of Chicago, IL, and Whitney Rose and her husband, Mike, of Joplin, MO; five great grandchildren, Avery, Abby, Katie, Ellen and Ainsley; and a twin sister, Beth Brister of Cleveland, MS.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Alene Hamrick and Olene Mortimer and three brothers, Charles Turner Mortimer, Kelly Mortimer, and Lagrone Mortimer.
